The Stark County Community Mental Health Board
The Stark County Community Mental Health Board, in partnership with the Stark County Family Council, will introduce a breakthrough, Internet-based community resource on Wednesday, June 9th, 2004. The Stark County Network of Care (http://stark.oh.networkofcare.org) is an Internet-based resource for up-to-date information related to mental health, children and families.
The two Web sites – Network of Care for Mental Health and Network of Care for Children & Families – will provide Stark County citizens with the opportunity to access the latest information and resources available for mental health and other social services. The Web sites have been customized for Stark County and are among the first of their kind in Ohio. The Ohio Department of Mental Health provided start-up funding and selected Stark County as one of three Ohio pilot programs. The Network of Care virtual community was developed by Trilogy Integrated Resources LLC, a company dedicated to improving information and communication in the health and social service fields at the community level.
Each easy-to-use Web site provides an extensive directory to put people in touch with the right services at the right time. The Network of Care for Children & Families serves as a resource for individuals, families and agencies involved with children and youths age 0-18, while the Network of Care for Mental Health is for those seeking information about mental health and emotional wellness.
There will be a Preview and Launch of the Network of Care Web sites for Stark County on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the R.G. Drage Career and Professional Development Center, 6805 Richville Drive SW, Massillon (Richville Drive exit off Route 30 between Massillon and Canton).
On the day of the launch, a Community Wellness Fair will take place from 8:00am - 11:00am featuring mental health and social service organizations. The launch and Web Site demonstrations begin at 9am and will feature comments from Michael F. Hogan, Ph.D., Director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health. Mr. Bruce Bronzan, president and co-founder of Trilogy Integrated Resources LLC, will provide the Network of Care Web Site demonstration during the launch. At 11:00am, tours of the new R.G. Drage Career and Professional Development Center will be available. Train the Trainer sessions will be available in the afternoon for anyone interested in using the Network of Care sites or teaching others how to use them. Those wishing to attend either the Web Site launch or the afternoon training sessions should register by contacting the Stark County Community Mental Health Board at (330) 455-6644 or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
A. Leslie Abel, Executive Director of the Stark County Community Mental Health Board, comments,
“One of the most unique features of the Network of Care site is the ability for any user to create a personal folder, located on a separate secure server, as a place to keep important information about their health care, community support services, and more. The Network of Care Web site empowers individuals and families by providing them with easy access to information and the personal folder enables them to better manage their affairs, interactions and important records. Individuals who create a personal folder decide what information is located in that secure location as well as who may access it.”
This valuable resource will increase access and knowledge of existing services and will enable more people to communicate to each other about their interests and concerns connected to mental health. Network of Care also provides easy-to-search libraries and vital information about specific disorders, pending legislation and advocacy, as well as daily news articles from around the world concerning mental and emotional wellness.
